Calicut
 Calicut is the commercial capital of North Kerala. It is famous in history as the capital of the Zamorin Rajas. The city was famous for centuries for its hand woven cottons, including the original "Calico". In 1498, Vasco-da-Gama landed nearby, in Kapad. It is a major centre for the timber industry and has boat building yards.
